Belle
RESERVED
Born: 7th
August 2008
Belle arrived with kennel friend Harry from a kennels near Manchester.
Belle is a lively pretty girl who has settled easily into Fen
Bank life. She is great on the lead, enjoys her food and anybody
else’ s if given the chance. Because of her energy and fondness
of food she would probably be better suited to a family with
older children. Is she the one to ring your bell….
Volunteer's view from Jan: Walked Belle on Friday - cold and
windy. She is a pleasure to walk and responds well to praise
and being talked to. She's a real sweetie. If only folks could
look past the fact that she is just a black dog like so many
others at Fen Bank. She has also been put in with Rocko in the
Wendy House and has begun to teach him some manners - not
aggressive just assertive - which is what he needs. I enjoyed
walking her as she didn't pull on the lead and responded when
you told her to wait etc.
See
how Belle and Harry got on when they had a day out! |

Harry
Born: 13th May 2007
Harry came from a kennels
near Manchester and has settled easily into life at Fen Bank.
He is a beautiful small boy with the most gentle eyes that will
melt hearts. Harry is a pleasure to walk, loves his grub and
would make a lovely pet. Are you the one to succumb to his
gorgeous eyes and good looks?

Mikey
Born: June 2008
Mikey is a blue ex racer who had no love and care in his life
until
he came to Fen Bank, but with constant and consistent handling he
has come alive and his soft brown eyes sparkle, his true kind
nature has emerged as he has grown daily in confidence. He loves
a cuddle, is good with medium and large dogs and is learning
rapidly that small dogs are just that, and not to be chased. Mikey is a peaceful, loving boy who would love and richly
deserves a good permanent home with a family or a single
person. He loves the company of other dogs and would fit well
into a pack or home as a single dog. He is not cat friendly. |
 |
Frankie
Born: September 2009
Frankie is an unusual blue/fawn boy who
came from a kennel where only his basic need of food and shelter
were met. He has learned that there is love in abundance for him
and he is now trusting and loving. He will need a competent
owner to produce what we have seen Frankie has inside him, but
has never been allowed to express until now. |
 |
Misty
HOMED
Born:
July 2011
Misty is a small one-year
old lurcher puppy. She is very playful, loves to chase a ball
and will bring it back for as long as you will throw it for her.
She gets on well with other dogs and will play tug-o-war with
them. Misty is not food possessive and is well behaved. Her idea
of heaven is sleeping next to you and she sleeps through the
night. She is quite good on the lead but is a fast learner and
wants to please. She is full of beans and would suit an active
family with older children as she tends to barge into things in
her exuberance. She is not keen on being left alone but is
improving by being left for short periods.
Misty will make a loving and
faithful dog for her new owner. Do you have just the
settee for Misty?
Volunteer’s
View from Pam: I find Misty quite cute. She sits down
waiting for the lead to be put on. She walks beautifully without
pulling on the lead. She knows the words ‘wait’ and ‘stay’ when
cars are coming. She shows interest in what is going on around
her. |
 |
AliceBorn:
18th July 2008 Alice came in completely
blank and emotionless! After being at Fen Bank for a while she
has blossomed into a playful, humorous sometimes mischievous
young dog. She loves being outside in sunny weather but needs
her high factor sun cream. She can be growly towards some breeds
of dog but this tends to be if she cannot see them clearly, for
example through a fence. Alice will be a wonderful dog for
someone who will be firm but kind. Are you the experienced dog
owner she needs to help her blossom even more and prove how
brilliant she will be?
Volunteer's View from Janice:
Jan and I have walked Alice
quite a few times and she is now responding to her name and
nuzzling you as you walk, which she didn't do some weeks ago.
Even when you go to her in the kennel and call her name she
comes to you for a stroke and fuss. She really seems to be
coming out of herself and loves to be stroked. |
 |
Hound
of the month Bouncer
Born: 1st May 2006
Bouncer by name bouncer by nature. This lovable energetic
youngster has lots of love to give and would be ideal for an
active family to help keep you and him fit . Bouncer's fun
excitable nature is probably better suited to a house with older
children. Although he is lacking in manners this happy boy would
make a lovely pet, could you be the one to give him the
excitement he longs for?
Volunteer's View from Jack:
Bouncer has been quite down over the past couple
of months, he has been responding to his name and loving his
walks. He's a loving dog with loads of energy and will love a
cuddle or two and a stroke. |
 |
Domino
Born: 9th July 2008
Domino arrived at Fen Bank in a sad state.
He was covered in pressure sores, had violent diarrhoea and
could hardly lift his head. We later heard he had been involved
in a traffic incident and had neck injuries. In just a few days
Domino's health has improved greatly, he is clean, lifting his
head, eating well and so much more relaxed. Domino is a pleasure
to walk; he never leaves your side and longs to be with people
who show him kindness. He will make a wonderful pet; he is one
of those dogs who will stay in your heart and head forever. Is
Domino that extra special dog for you?
Volunteer's View from Jan:
I walked Domino today and he seems
to be responding to his name and stays close to you when
walking. He also knows when you tell him to wait and stop while
walking and likes to have the odd stroke which seems to give him
confidence and reassurance. He doesn't pull on the lead and is
a pleasure to walk. He also likes a treat of cheese at the end
of his walk and is gentle when he takes it.

Tarzan
Born: 1st October 2008
Tarzan's jet black coat is randomly
sprinkled with angel kisses. He is a happy boy who likes to be
where the action is. He enjoys playing in the paddock with
kennel partner Katy both of whom would be happy to stay out all
day. Tarzan would suite an active family as he loves the
outdoors. Would your family benefit from this active loving dog? |
 |
Joney
Born: 5th January 2009
Joney is a small handsome boy who, like kennel partner Angel,
needs work on the lead. He is very loving and full of beans and
would benefit from a secure area or garden to run around in. he
is a smashing dog who loves everyone he meets. Joney just enjoys
life! Are you the one to help him enjoy life to the full? |
 |
Nemo Born:
1st January 2007 Nemo is a chunky boy who is
strong, lively and loves life. He is so desperate to love you he
forgets how big he is, so needs an owner who is steady on their
feet. Is he the big bundle of energy to suit your home? |
 |
Joey
Born: 1st January 2008
Joey is a handsome slender white and blue boy
with a calm outlook on life. He is a pleasure to walk, a real
gentleman. The trainer he came from says he's good with small
animals and possibly cat tolerant so watch this space! Joey
would make a stunning family pet in a single or multi dog home.
Is he the dog to make your home complete?
Volunteer's View from Chris:
Joey loves getting in the back of cars then pretends he can't
jump out. Had a good look through all the windows of the car but
did not try to get in the front. I took him on a Greyhound walk
where he was very excited and had to walk at the front, but
didn't know what to do when he got there! He would have liked to
eat a grumpy Jack Russell, but was absolutely fine with all
other small dogs. Very good with my dogs, one is a Whippet. Very
inquisitive, only one dog he was unsure of. Wonderful with
people. Loves being stroked and having ears rubbed. Likes to
lean on you when walking or standing. |
 |
Tom
Born: August 2009
When Tom arrived at the kennels he had no
manners around food. After a short space of time he has greatly
improved and will even wait calmly for his meals. He walks well
on the lead and loves being with people. He would be a lovely
dog for a grown up family. Could tom be the companion dog to
keep you company on your travels or curled up on the settee with
you of an evening?
Volunteer's View from Jan:
I've not had anything to do with
this lad before but found him to be good on the lead - didn't
pull and responded to being chatted to whilst walking. Had a
little nibble at my gloves (playfully) but when I told him 'No'
he responded well. |
 |
Brett
Born: 1st November 2006
Brett was scared, nervous
and totally unsocialised when he arrived at Fen Bank. He would
peer around the kennel door at you, unsure of what his new life
would be as all he knew was racing. In fact, he’s run well over
a hundred races. In a short space of time he’s become more
confident and enjoys a little fuss from people he knows and
trusts. Are you the special someone who can help bring out this
adorable boys full potential?
Foster dad's view from Chris:
Despite enjoying his foster home, Brett would really like to
find his forever home and enhance someone's life. He is a
perfect gent on the lead, has seen much more of the world,
travels like a dream, asks to go outside, eats well, doesn't
destroy toys, sleeps almost anywhere, gets on well with other
dogs, greets us at the door, is a little shy (but NOT anxious or
nervous), adores being stroked and (after spending the weekend
with 2 excited under 10's) is good with children. Give this lad
10 minutes to get settled and used to you and he'll be your
soul-mate.
Volunteer's View from Jack:
Brett Is a very shy and cute dog but he loves his cuddles, he
might be shy in the kennels but when he's with you he will love
you to bits, he's a lovely black dog and good on the lead and
loves going for walks. Brett is a gentle dog who loves strokes
and hugs he will come to you once he knows you. Brett needs a
great home because he's a great dog. Can you settle for Brett? |
 |
Dotty
Born: 8th April 2009
This cheeky girl has kept us on our toes since her recent
arrival at Fen Bank because of her escapology! She enjoys a
wander round the kennels to visit the other dogs and check that
everything is OK. Dotty really loves going for walks with people
and other dogs and is interested in everything all at the same
time. She is a strong confident and fun girl who would be ideal
for an active home. Are you the family to enjoy this amusing
happy dog and fulfil her desire to experience life? |
 |
Bessie
Born: 1st October 2007
Bessie is a really stunning slate blue colour. She is good with
children, lovely to walk and a calm nature. Bessie has a very
thoughtful look about her, a real day dreamer. She gets upset at
raised voices especially if directed towards her. Bessie likes
her own bed. Have you a bed where Bessie can think the day away?
A huge thank you from everyone at Fen Bank to Carol Pont and
family who have been looking after Bessie and wrote:
Bessie came to stay with us recently for a little rest and
recuperation after her tail op. At first she was a little
unsure, subdued and looked at me warily with her big brown eyes.
However within a day or so we started to get a glimpse of the
real Bessie and what a treat it has been to share some time with
this beautiful girl. She got on with our pair ( Noddy and
Queenie) and soon settled into our routine. Although she has not
spent a lot of time in a home before, we had no accidents at
all. On the lead she is pretty good, just very inquisitive as
you would expect. I can honestly say she is a delight, very
loving, a little mischievous and I think given time and
confidence she would make a fantastic companion. Our family were
so sad to see her go and if it had been at all possible, we
would have become a 3 greyhound home. I hope someone finds
Bessie soon. |

relax and adjust to the life of being a normal family pet? |
 |

paid for her to come over to us. Although 9 this month she is
extremely fit and in good condition.

you forever? |
 |
Stanley
Born: 28th August 2008
Stanley is a big confident boy but a real
softie at heart. Since arriving at Fen Bank Stanley has been
quiet, well-mannered and good with the other greys. He loves his
walks and is always very alert. On cold days he will snuggle
deep down in his bed wearing a fleece to keep him extra cosy
because poor Stanley really feels the cold. Do you have the warm
loving home this big softie can stretch out in and forget the
cold days of kennel life? |
 |
Rocko
Born: 2011
Rocko is a bright boisterous youngster who
has bundles of energy. He is nervous of strangers but a happy
lively little soul when he knows you. He would benefit from
confident owners of a multi-dog family who can reassure this
charming little boy that life is fun even with manners. Could
you be the ones to help this youngster mature into the relaxed,
fun loving family dog that he longs to be? |

suite a multi-dog family with older children. Nothing seems to
faze this dog and she enjoys everything to the max. Could Lynn
be the fun and excitement your family is missing? |
 |
Rosie
Rosie is an adorable quiet girl who would
suit a family without small animals. She has had a stint in the
Fen Bank house when she was unwell; she was brilliant. Rosie
accepted any dogs that came into the house whether other kennel dogs
or visitor’s dogs. She was happy to be left on her own, was
clean and showed manners when staff were sitting eating, she was
a real pleasure. Could Rosie be the confident level headed dog
to fit into your home? |
 |

 |
Vesta
Born: 9th October 2008
Vesta is a very timid handsome boy who
hides away from new people. He needs time to really build up his
trust, once this is achieved he is the most adorable and loving

confident owner. Is your home relaxed and positive enough to
give this boy the chilled life he longs for? |
 |

With thanks to Debbie, Mick, Pam and

A huge thanks to our fantastic volunteers for giving their time every
week to come and walk the dogs or take them out for the day; they give
the dogs the extra love and attention that makes such a difference to
them. They also write the Volunteer's Views.
The
'cat-tolerant' symbols are for guidance and to the best of our knowledge
reflect the nature of the dog. If you home one of our beautiful dogs you
will be informed as to the suitability of the particular dog with cats.
Whilst greyhounds are very loving dogs who
make fantastic pets, the owner is responsible for maintaining control at
all times.
